The basics of oral health include regular brushing and flossing of your teeth. It can also include the use of an antibacterial rinse. The reason for this is to help get rid of the bacteria that grows in the mouth and to remove any food particles and debris that are in the mouth.
It is important to keep your mouth clean every day, but it is even more important to do this after any oral surgery procedure. If you don’t many things can happen that are not good for your oral health.
The most common way that people keep their mouth clean is through brushing and flossing. Doing this twice a day and coming in for regular checkups and cleaning is usually the best way to keep the mouth clean.
The problem is that after you have oral surgery, you need to take care and even avoid brushing and flossing for a short time. You will have to avoid brushing and flossing around the surgical site until it heals. That means you need to find a different way to keep your mouth clean.
The answer is to rinse out your mouth at least 4 times during the day. You can use a warm salt water rinse, or you can turn to antibacterial mouth rinses to do this. The rinses accomplish a few things. They help keep the mouth hydrated and prevent it from becoming dry. Then rinse and the moisture can help remove and food debris or other debris that can accumulate in the mouth following oral surgery.
Rinsing your mouth with an antibacterial rinse can also help prevent bacteria from growing. This is something you normally keep in check with brushing, but are not able to do after oral surgery. If you are not able to keep the debris and the bacteria off the tongue and surgical site, you could end up dealing with an infection or other problems.
