Is your jaw hurting? Everyone’s jaw hurts from time to time, but you may have noticed that your jaw has been hurting more than usual.

If your jaw has been hurting, there are several problems that can happen in your jaw that could be causing your pain. Keep reading for more information on jaw pain and treatments for jaw pain.

Why Is My Jaw Hurting?

There are several reasons why your jaw might be hurting. Your jaw might be hurting because you have a cavity that needs to be filled. Over time, a small cavity can become a large cavity, which means that you will begin to experience pain. Once you get the cavity filled, your pain should be gone.

You might also have jaw pain because of gum disease. Gum disease is caused by bacteria, and the infection in your gums might cause your jaw to hurt as well. You might have a tooth that is impacted- which is a major cause of jaw pain. When a tooth is impacted, it cannot erupt and take its place in your mouth. Over time, this could cause pain and even infection. Once the tooth is extracted, you should begin to feel less pain.

You may also have jaw pain because you are clenching or grinding your teeth at night, which inflames the nerves in your mouth, and can lead to an achy and painful jaw. You might also have problems with your jaw joint, or TMJ. When your jaw joint gets inflamed, it can cause your entire jaw to hurt. This condition can get better with treatment.
